Since my roaring twenties, my uncle and I have been relentlessly egging each other on to cling to the hope of someday flaunting luxurious, flowing locks that sway elegantly in the breeze. It was a bond stronger than superglue. As time rolled on, my uncle even floated the idea of teaming up with me to hunt down a remedy for male pattern baldness. In fact, his very last words to me were, "Once I've given my wig a good scrub with head and shoulders, you and I will venture into the Batcave and concoct that miraculous cure together." The image of his eyes gleaming with determination, and the slightly oily sheen of his wig as he voiced those words, is forever etched in my memory. Even today, I can shut my eyes and teleport back to that moment. Sadly, we never got the chance to realize our ambition of discovering a cure side by side.
And so, here I am at the ripe age of 50, though my mental age might lean closer to 15, breathing life into that dream for the both of us. Remarkably, I've reached the exact age my uncle was when he bid adieu to his toupee. Not only am I pursuing a fervent and lifelong aspiration of regaining a lush mane, but I'm also pursuing the dream of breaking free from my baseball cap.
